Opening New Chapters
We hope that this year the Seven Stones book club has provided you with some
reading to inspire and influence you in your professional life.
For some though, books quite literally do change lives. Because literacy is not just about
opening books, it’s about opening doors – to education, to healthcare, to employment.
Such as for the children at the Foundation Petit Dan and Sarah Orphanage in Soa, Cameroon, whose library is not just helping them get off to a better start in life but is benefiting the whole community.
In countries like Cameroon, books are a luxury that few can afford. Extending libraries is therefore central to building literacy throughout the community. With donations such as ours, their collection has continued to expand, ranging from children’s stories to university textbooks – creating a library that is now wide-reaching as well as widely used.
This Christmas, instead of sending a new book your way, we’re sending one on your behalf
to sub-Saharan Africa. It could go to a school, a refugee camp, or a university. But whoever
it reaches, we hope it will help to open new chapters for them.
And, we’ll do the same for every new member who joins before the end of January,
so please encourage your colleagues to log onto this website and join.
